Given the massive use of fossil fuels to provide energy for our world population, concerns about the effects of carbon dioxide on the environment are on the rise. Of particular concern is the impact of the dissolution of CO2 in our oceans, where it quickly reacts with water to form carbonic acid and acidifies the oceans. The effects of global ocean acidification of the world’s oceans are largely unknown. Researchers at major universities are conducting experiments using CO2 scrubbing systems to explore the biological effects of ocean acidification. The currently marketed CO2 scrubbing systems being used in these experiments are inefficient and inconsistent.

Invention Description:

This technology is a high-efficiency and non-toxic CO2 scrubbing system that provides for stringent control of the partial pressure of CO2 (p CO2) in culture aeration and seawater. It addresses the inefficiencies and inconsistencies of current CO2 scrubbing systems on the market.
