Fluidic control system for repeat analysis of individual particles

Description:

Reference #: 1709

The University of South Carolina is offering licensing opportunities for Fluidic Control System for Repeat Analysis of Individual Particles

Background:

Cytometry is the study of cellular/particle characteristics in a controlled environment by subjecting them to multiple tests/treatments in order to classify and distinguish them. Such methods include, fluorescence, absorption, light scattering, etc.

Invention Description:

This system is a system for isolating individual particles and controlling their position, allowing for repeat measurements of the same particle as well as repeat treatment involving the same particle in a controlled environment.

Potential Applications:

This system can be applied to biomedical sciences, life sciences and chemical industries through the analysis and examination of singular particles, cells, or other molecules and treatment of such substances in controlled systems. Such analysis and treatment allow for experimentation, diagnoses, or data gathering within these industries.

Advantages and Benefits:

This tool is the only known instrument that can take repeat measurements of particles or substances with high flow rates as compared to other existing instrumentation. Furthermore, this system allows for more accurate and comprehensive data gathering as compared to similar instrumentation that is already in existence. This system is also compatible with living cells without a destructive element that is normally present when working with such samples in existing instrumentation.
